Isokinetic Conference, Milan
Alex Karagiannidis participated at the Isokinetic Conference on 22-23 March, held in Milan, titled “Football Medicine Strategies for Joint and Ligament Injuries” and to the “2nd Science of Football Summit”, held on March 24 following the end of the conference.

The highlights of the conference were:
- 1) The participation of the scientific, orthopedic group The-MIS (http://www.the-mis.gr/site/) at the conference with 2 free oral presentations, namely:
- ”Delayed cartilage defect 7 years after contusion of the lateral femoral condyle”, Papasoulis E, Papakostas E, Sideridis A, Terzidis I (Thessaloniki, Greece)
- “Return to soccer following ACL reconstruction”, Papakostas E, Papasoulis E, Epaminontidis K, Terzidis I, Sideridis A, (Thessaloniki Greece and Doha, Qatar)
- 2) The presentation on the “Traffic Light Concept” by Dr. Kyriakos Tsapralis (Sports Medicine Physician at the Isokinetic Network, Bologna, http://www.isokinetic.com/en/sports-rehab/bologna/)
- “Criterion based rehabilitation: the” traffic light “concept” – Dr. Tsapralis introduced the criterion based rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction as an alternative to time based rehabilitation.

- b) The PEP (Prevent injury and Enhance Performance). This prevention program consists of a warm-up, stretching, strengthening, plyometrics, and sport specific agilities to address potential deficits in the strength and coordination of the stabilizing muscles around the knee joint. - The neuromuscular rehabilitation programs focusing on the improvement of motor control, proprioception and plyometrics

- The importance of exercises targeting the activation of the abductors and the external rotators of the hip to avoid dynamic valgus at the knee joint. Dr. Christopher Powers (http://pt.usc.edu/powers/) presented the results of its research team at the University of Southern California.

- 6) The 2 hour workshop conducted by the rehabilitation team of the FC BARCELONA on “NEUROMUSCULAR CONTROL AND PREVENTION OF ACL INJURIES, FCB EXPERIENCE”
